NO PRINCES !

Yesterday, I drove through the Northern Virginia area and ran into a couple of “No Kings” demonstrations. Unfortunately, like an incompetent doctor, these folks are addressing the symptoms and not the cause of the disease that plagues the entire nation.
The reason the current Chief Executive has succeeded in an unprecedented extension of presidential powers is that the Legislative Branch has forfeited its powers to address America’s problems, choosing instead to squander its energies on a perpetual uncivil war. Just look at the B.S. our elected “representatives” pulled on March 27th. Leaving several federal agencies with national security missions unfunded, during a period of armed conflict with a terrorist regime, they excused themselves for a two-week paid vacation.
These are the princes who
· Refuse to pass a budget (balanced or otherwise)
· Refuse to expel corrupting corporate money from our election process
while using their high offices to amass great wealth
· Refuse to impose the term-limits we have demanded for decades
· Engage in blatant gerrymandering to guarantee their re-elections
· Hide their pork-barrel spending in the fine print of unrelated legislation
· Preserve an absurdly complex system of taxation, rife with inequities
· Have failed for decades to resolve America’s most divisive issues
and a hundred other sins against We The People.
So, if it makes you feel good to wave your homemade signs at passing cars, you should at least correctly target your message.

Much more than the Executive Branch, the Senate and the House of Representatives need to have their self-serving culture of privilege gutted and then reconstituted with operating rules written by folks with no ties to the Democrat or Republican cabals. Their duties to the American People need to be precisely defined, and there needs to be severe and guaranteed penalties for failure.
Obviously, our Congress will never reform itself. It has become a national embarrassment. But we deserve a functioning Legislative Branch that America can be proud of.
As always, The Citizen v2.1 Initiative reminds the reader that the only cure for a failing democracy is more democracy. In this case, the fix for a system of government with three components that tends to lose its balance from time to time, is to add a fourth branch - The Citizenry. The goal will be to finally make the American Citizen a full partner in their own governance. To learn more, visit The Citizen v2.1 Website.
